I’ve been busy building a new site and revamping my old sites to make them more attractive to Google since the “Panda” update changed the way they rank sites.

One thing that hasn’t changed though, the importance of backlinks.

Building backlinks to your pages is an essential part of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for two reasons.  First, it helps your pages get indexed faster which is important because you want the search engines to find them as soon as possible and crawl them regularly.  The second reason is that it helps your pages get higher search engine rankings for your key words.  The more backlinks you have the better!

Looking Forward to 2012

What a year 2011 was.  I learned a lot and started to really make money with my Internet Marketing Business.  I’ve finally overcome the confusion of information overload and am focused on exactly what I want to accomplish, as well as how to turn my goals into reality.

I figured out which business model I wanted to follow earlier this year and I’ve been pretty busy building sites in a variety of niches.  I got the very best coaching from Marcus Campbell.  If you have any interest in building niche sites sign up to his email list.  He hosts lots of free webinars and his paid programs are second to none.

Speaking of niche sites…my latest site is in the dieting dieting niche.  I’m actually chronicling my own flat stomach diet with The Diet Solution program.  This site will continue to grow throughout 2012…as I shrink!

I also went through the IBCX Course.  This comprehensive program  helped me with my basic IM skills and I will continue to refer back to the excellent videos and training available there as new material is added.  If you’re still struggling to get started with your own business I strongly recommend Internet Business CodeX, regardless of your business model or niche!

In 2012 I plan to build several more niche sites and continue to improve on those I built last year.  Heck, I may even flip a few.  Of course things change constantly and I still have a lot to learn, but I feel that 2012 will be my best year by far!

When it comes to building niche sites, there several models to choose from.  There are adsense sites, review sites, affiliate sites and sites that are a combination of two or more.  I’ve built them all!

For the past couple weeks I’ve been working on building a new niche site DownloadTheseFree.com.  It’s cute, child friendly and there are some really FUN FREE offers there.  I’m still adding offers to it and I’ll also update the site seasonally.  I plan to drive traffic with PPC (pay per click) so I can start to see results right away.

This site is monetized with  CPA (Cost per action) offers and I had a lot of fun working on it.  My friend Marj Wyatt recommended a great WordPress theme, Flexibility, which allows you to easily customize your site in a variety of ways.  She also told me about a great tool for choosing color schemes that I really like.

My motto is “Keep it simple and have fun.” And yes, making money on the Internet is FUN! It can also be done on a shoe string, and that’s the way I’ve always approached it. After all, we’re in it to make money, not waste it!

But there are some tools that are absolutely necessary to successfully market online. An auto-responder is one of those tools.

Why do you need an auto-responder? Well, we all know that “The Money is in the List”. Your auto-responder is where you keep and grow your list and it gives you the tools to stay in touch with that list. There are free auto-responders out there, but it’s too important to your business to not invest in a quality company that understands the needs of online Marketers.

I use Aweber. It’s the service recommended to me by my Mentor and has proven to be an invaluable tool in helping me build my online business. You’re first month is only $1 and it costs about $19 per month after that. They also provide excellent support and training.

You’re going to need a web site which means a Domain Name and Hosting.  I prefer and highly recommend Hostgator.  Again, excellent support and training, which comes in handy if you’re technically challenged like me.  For domain names I use NameCheap.  I’ve used NameCheap from the start but you could certainly save a step and register you domain name(s) directly through Hostgator.

If you’ve never set up a blog/web site before, and have no idea how to go about it, I suggest you head on over to The WordPress Classroom.  You can join for FREE and take advantage of the easy to follow videos to set up your site(s). Of course you can upgrade if and when you choose, and I suggest you do!

Another source for FREE training on building a site, as well as monetizing sites, is Ed Dale’s “The Challenge”.  I first took The Challenge last Summer and built my first Niche site, Best Anti Snoring Pillows.  I have gone on to build more sites since then and have several in the works.

The point is, you can start an Internet Marketing business with very little risk or expense, and the rewards have no limits!


As for me, I’ve chosen niche sites as my business model and I’ve invested in extensive training over the course of the last year and a half.  If you’re interested in more information and in depth training on building your own niche sites, I highly recommend you sign up to attend Marcus Campbell’s webinars.  He offers TONS of great content in his free webinars and his courses are second to none!

And for the very best step by step training on the basics of building an Internet Marketing business, regardless of your business model, The Internet Business Code X Course with Gary Simpson and Garry Parkes is, by far, the best I’ve ever found!

The bad news is that this AMAZING course is closed.  The good news is that it will re-open in the future as a membership site.  How great is that?

When I first started out in Internet Marketing I was overloaded with information, odds are you can relate!  I looked for someone, something, to show me what to do…step by step.  I signed up for a couple courses that promised just that, but never delivered.  Unfortunately that cost me money, but more importantly it cost me time, months in fact.

The course really does begin at the beginning.  It starts with Mind Set, Time Management, the basics such as Hosting and getting a domain name, as well as detailed Blog set up.  There are weekly Q & A sessions and a 24/7 Forum where you can meet fellow marketers, at all levels, and get answers to any IM questions you may have.

Knowing Gary Simpson, I had high expectations for IBCX, but I’m really blown away by what what I’ve seen so far.  I’ve even learned a couple tricks myself.  How I wish IBCX had been available to me 18 months ago!
